Are JWs attracting more and more off-center people?
by undercover inthis thread is prompted by the thread about a jw woman who disprupted a funeral.
i don't know the details as i can't view youtube from work, but it did get me to thinking.... over the last couple of decades, at least, i've noticed that more and more 'fringe personalities', for a lack of a better term, have infiltrated the ranks of the everyday jws.
true, jws are themselves a fringe element to normal society, but even within their own communities, there used to be a sense of normalcy, or at least seemed to be.. has the cultic message of the wt society started attracting people with different thought processes over this time period?

Bringing someone into the org. is seen as a status symbol. Much pressure is on elders, servants, pioneers & pubs to be able to boast about "bringing someone ito the troof". Any off-center dysfunctional person will do. I've seem several nut jobs fawned over because of this. Combine this with WTS teachings and it is a recipe for disaster.

Bible student with 8 kids turns down marriage proposal?
by QuestioningEverything ina woman who is studying/attending the kh where my mom goes has 8 kids.
the oldest is 15y and the baby is only 7 weeks old.
after studying for some time, she decided it would be morally right for her and the kids father to get married.

Update: Mrs. Chickennest's cancer
by Thechickennest inmy dear wife has undergone three rounds of chemotherapy as an inpatient at the mayo clinic in the past two months.
we are returning to minnesota/mayo clinic this saturday.
she will begin seven weeks of chemotherapy/radiation.

I'd turn it right back on them. Tell them, if none of them had pre-marital sex then DF. If they did have pre-marital sex, then show mercy and make it private reproof. Let their conscience condemn them. Either way it is rediculous that a young married couple have to put up with these perverts (which by the way none of them being their fathers), coming into their bedroom to discuss their sexual relations prior to their marriage.

What They Tell a CO
by WalkTall indid it ever bother any of you that you and your family were talked about to the co during the elders meeting with him?
and for those who have been elders, my question is: how much do they tell him?
for some reason, it has always bothered me that this man, who is a complete stranger really, is informed of family or personal situations through the lense of elder's opinions.

It is unbelieveable how much like a business the JW's are than a religion. I didn't start moving up in my career until I left the JW's, but was amazed at how similar things were organized. My JW background probably actually helped me in this respect.
The CO is told all about everything. He first gets the skinny on all the elders, servants and pioneers. Then he finds out who has the money in the cong. Individual histories of pubs are told to him. People with money that don't do much will be a special target for him to try to "encourage" to reach out and become more involved. All the "problem children" are pointed out.
I probably did my share of "sucking up" to them when I was moving up the org. ladder, but one of my proudest moments was when I got to call a one-on-one meeting with a CO at the KH and chewed his ass out. I got the I'm a CO and you can't talk to me like that response. If he wouldn't have been such a pompous asshole.....he wouldn't have got talked to like that! I was done with it shortly after that.

first i want to say i am not disclosing any details at this time, but i think i have good news for those wondering when the truth and blind will awake.
most of us know what happens when talking to family, friends, anyone whos a jw, it's an instant mental block.
